Anne O’Dwyer is currently one of two Business Development Managers at DDW, managing Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Anne got into the food industry when she moved back to Cork after spending several years working in Dublin and Germany. She joined DDW in 2003, working in Customer Service and supporting the Sales team before getting promoted to her current position.
Community Involvement: From a young age, Anne has enjoyed volunteering her time to local community service projects. As a teenager, she was a member of Foroige (a national youth organization in Ireland), where she spent four years helping with various projects — including working with the elderly and also helping with mental health facilities.
For Fun: Anne enjoys taking walks with her husband, reading books, swimming, and organizing social events. She also once attended a three-month cooking course with Rachel Allen, who is now a famous TV Chef in Ireland and UK.
Random Fact: Anne speaks fluent German, having learned it as a hobby and then for a degree (German and English Language & Literature). She once spent 18 months traveling and working throughout various parts of the world, including Germany, Greece, Israel, and Egypt. “All these experiences opened my eyes entirely,” she says, “to a world outside the ‘English speaking’ world… From then on, I took a serious interest in things that happen all around the globe and how this impacts all of us. [It] developed my interest in other cultures and what influences and affects their lives.” In addition, she says, “I avidly watch political programmes and foreign language films.”
