Expert Answers Interviews Bheki Nkwanyana on Food Industry Improvements
D.D. Williamson’s Bheki Nkwanyana, Plant Manager of the company’s facility in Africa, recently sat down for an interview as part of DDW’s new Expert Answers Series. During the interview, Nkwanyana shared his insights into how the food and beverage industry is making improvements in third party audits, certifications and food safety.
“There’s a huge emphasis in making sure that food purchasing companies are compliant with the food safety systems,” Nkwanyana says. “For example, HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) has taken a big movement in the African region, mainly turned by the European market, I’d say, but while adopting the same legal requirements.”
In fact, as Nkwanyana points out, DDW has already noticed an increased push for compliance among our suppliers as well as our customers. This is just one way we’re seeing improvements in the food and beverage industry as we start the new year!
