REGULATORY EXPERT TO PRESENT AT

Fi CONFERENCE: ADVANCES IN NATURAL COLOUR

  

COUNTY CORK, IRELAND — (6 December 2011) – D.D. Williamson announces that Jennifer Guild, Global Food Science and Regulatory Manager, will address an upcoming  Food Ingredients Conference on natural colouring.  The conference, entitled “Advances in Natural Colour,” will take place 9th and 10th of February at The Bloomsbury Hotel in London. At 11:30 GMT on Thursday, 9th of February, Ms. Guild will present “Natural Colour & Colouring Foodstuffs:  Successfully navigating through an uncertain regulatory environment and preparing for future legislation.”   

To provide the latest guidance for marketers and product developers in the food industry, Ms. Guild’s presentation will:

  • Outline the current regulatory framework governing the use of natural colours, caramel and colouring foodstuffs in key global markets, including the EU, the US and Asia. 
  •  Compare the accepted use of language across different markets to understand the limitations placed on food products by legislation.  
  • Examine the decision tree of colouring foodstuffs and additives within Europe and discuss the timeline and expected guidance from the European Commission on the classification of food extracts with colouring properties.

Jennifer Guild‘s title is Global Food Science and Regulatory Manager for D.D. Williamson. Over the past 13 years, Jennifer has evaluated the regulations of colours for 70+ countries to clarify labeling, allergens, genetically modified organisms, organic foods and more. She graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
